Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the TCG API service (“Service”) operated by TCG API (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

TCG API provides a REST API for accessing trading card game pricing data sourced from publicly available marketplaces. The Service includes API access, documentation, and related tools available at tcgapi.dev and api.tcgapi.dev.

2. Account Registration

Section titled “2. Account Registration”

To use the Service, you must register for an account and obtain an API key. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate registration information
  • Keep your account credentials and API key confidential
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Be responsible for all activity under your account

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction to create an account.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Exceed the rate limits associated with your plan
  • Share, redistribute, or resell API data as a competing data service
  • Scrape, crawl, or systematically download data to build a competing dataset
  • Use automated tools to circumvent rate limits or access controls
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users’ accounts
  • Use the Service to engage in any illegal activity
  • Sublicense or transfer your API key to third parties

4. API Key Security

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API key. Any activity that occurs using your API key is your responsibility. If you believe your API key has been compromised, you must regenerate it immediately through your account dashboard.

5. Plans and Billing

The Service is offered under tiered plans (Free, Pro, Business) with different request limits and features. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis.

No Refunds

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds for any reason, including partial months of service, unused request allocations, or plan downgrades. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and your access will continue until the end of your current billing period. We strongly recommend evaluating the Service on our free tier before upgrading to a paid plan.

6. Data Accuracy

Section titled “6. Data Accuracy”

Pricing data provided through the Service is sourced from TCGPlayer and other publicly available marketplaces. While we strive for accuracy, we make no guarantee regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any pricing data. Prices may be delayed, incomplete, or contain errors. You should not rely solely on our data for financial decisions.

7. Intellectual Property

All data, documentation, and materials provided through the Service are licensed to you for use in accordance with your plan, not sold or transferred. You may use the data within your applications subject to your plan’s terms (including commercial use restrictions for Free and Pro plans). You may not claim ownership of the underlying data or represent it as your own dataset.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • You exceed rate limits repeatedly or engage in abusive usage patterns
  • Your payment method fails and is not updated within 7 days
  • We determine your use poses a security risk

Upon termination, your API key will be deactivated and your access to the Service will cease. We may delete your account data 30 days after termination.

You may terminate your account at any time by canceling your subscription and contacting us to request account deletion.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TCG API shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TCG API, its operators, and affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

Section titled “12. Governing Law”

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Massachusetts.
